Q&A (DOH ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 109, s. 2002)

The purpose is to amend Administrative Order No. 33, s. 2001 to provide guidelines on the accreditation of suppliers of medical equipment, parts, accessories, and medical equipment repair shops, ensuring accreditation of reputable companies capable of delivering quality goods and services at fair prices.

An applicant must hold an exclusive distributorship agreement issued by the manufacturer/principal, which must be notarized in the country of origin and authenticated by the respective Philippine Consular Office.

The nature of business, particularly in importing, exporting, sales, and distribution of medical, hospital, dental, laboratory, or radiological equipment, must be expressly specified in the primary or secondary purposes of the corporation.

No. The applicant corporation can only carry a single product line for a particular genus of equipment to avoid monopoly, collusion, or circumvention of guidelines.

At least 20% of customers or clients of new applicants or its parent company must belong to the private sector (local or foreign) over the past two years.

Newly incorporated companies must wait for the two-year period to fulfill the 20% private sector customer requirement, unless they are a subsidiary or consortium of a parent company with an impeccable accreditation track record with the DOH.

The parent company must not cease to exist, be free from financial distress, or in the process of dissolution or liquidation. Also, a Board Resolution from the parent company must guarantee financial support to the subsidiary for the first two years.

The fee is one thousand pesos (P1,000.00) per brand per category per year or a fraction thereof.
