QuestionsQuestions (CIAC Resolution NO. 04-2011)
The MACE program aims to ensure that accredited arbitrators and mediators of CIAC are kept updated with recent legal developments, construction industry trends, and are reminded of their ethical duties.
All accredited CIAC arbitrators and mediators, subject to specified exceptions, must earn a minimum number of credit units during a two-year period to be eligible for appointment.
They must earn at least twelve (12) credit units during any two consecutive years starting January 1, 2011, and similarly every two years thereafter.
They remain accredited but are listed in the Reserved List and will not be available for appointment until they earn the minimum credit units.
The Secretariat provides the List of Arbitrators and Mediators in MACE Compliance, which only includes arbitrators and mediators who have met the credit unit requirements.
Credit units are earned by attending seminars (1 credit per hour), participating in simulated exercises (2 credits per hour), and giving lectures or presentations (3 credits per hour).
One hour consists of four quarters of fifteen minutes each, and any fraction less than 15 minutes does not earn credit units.
PICAM requested and endorsed the adoption of the MACE rating system and collaborates with CIAC in sponsoring MACE seminars.
They aim to sponsor four seminars per year: preferably two in Luzon, one in Visayas, and one in Mindanao.
Members of the Faculty, defined as those who have given at least five lectures in MACE seminars in the last three years, are automatically included.
