Upgrading of Hospital Facilities and Health Care Services
- Existing hospital facilities and professional health care services to be upgraded.
- Upgrades to be commensurate with the increased bed capacity.
- Medical personnel to be increased correspondingly to support new capacity.
Implementation Timeline for Bed Capacity Increase
- Increase in bed capacity to be implemented incrementally.
- Implementation period limited to a maximum of two (2) years from approval of the Act.
Supervision and Control of Construction and Upgrade Works
- Department of Health (DOH) to have direct supervision and control over hospital facility construction and upgrades.
Funding and Inclusion in Department Programs
- Secretary of Health mandated to include the implementation of this Act in DOH programs immediately.
- Funding appropriated through the annual General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Repeal of Previous Legislation
- Republic Act No. 7943 is repealed to accommodate the provisions of this new Act.
Effectivity Clause
- Act takes effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
