Planting of Trees Along Major, Minor, Collector, and Service Roads

  • Shade trees must be planted on the side of the road opposite distribution lines.
  • Typical spacing between shade trees is 5 meters.
  • Houseowners are prohibited from planting shade trees within 5 meters of distribution lines for safety.

Recommended Shade Tree Species

  • Species include Narra (Pterocarpus indicus), Rain Tree (Samanea saman), Kamagong (Diospyros philippensis), Red Bottle Brush Tree (Callistemon citrinus), Mabo/mottled leaf Dapdap (Erythrina variegata), Mangium (Acacia mangium), Fire Tree (Delonix regia), Pili (Canarium ovatum), Fiddled Fig Tree (Ficus pandurata), Saraca (Saraca declinata), Caballero (Caesalpinia pulcherrima), Golden Shower (Cassia fistula), Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), Talisai (Terminalia catappa), Yellow Shower (Cassia fruticosa), and Lagerstroemia indica.

Planting of Ornamental Trees

  • Ornamental trees to be planted on the planting strip along the side of the primary electricity line.
  • Typical spacing between ornamental trees is 3 meters.

  • Coconut and other tall palms are not allowed.

Location and Installation of Electric Poles

  • Electric poles must be 10.6 meters (35 feet) tall.
  • Poles must be installed 15 centimeters from the gutter of the road.

Planting Guidelines in Motorcourt Areas

  • Shade trees are not allowed in motorcourt areas.
  • Houseowners must not plant shade or ornamental trees within 5 meters of distribution lines for safety.

Ornamental Tree Planting on Minor Roads and Motorcourts

  • Only ornamental trees and palms are allowed along the side opposite the distribution line.
  • No tree planting is allowed in alleys and pathwalks.

Recommended Trees and Palms for Motorcourt Landscapes

  • Same species as listed for ornamental tree planting.
  • Coconut and tall palms remain prohibited.

  • Garden plants allowed on roads along the primary line, alleys, and pathwalks.

Electric Poles Installation in Motorcourt

  • Poles should be 10.5 meters (35 feet) tall.
  • Installation must be 15 centimeters from the gutter.

General Provisions

  • These regulations are supplemental to P.D. 953 and aim to ensure safety and protection of underground utilities and power lines by designating tree species, planting locations, and distances.
  • Unauthorized planting of trees within specified distances from power lines is prohibited to prevent damage and hazards.
