Expanded Roles and Responsibilities of POEA
- POEA must inform migrant workers of their rights as workers and human beings.
- The agency is tasked to instruct and guide workers on asserting their rights.
- Provides mechanisms for redress in cases of rights violations.
Restrictions on Deployment of Filipino Workers
- Filipino workers can only be deployed to countries where the Philippines has bilateral labor agreements or arrangements.
- Host countries must guarantee protection of Filipino migrant workers' rights.
- Host countries must comply with international laws and standards for migrant workers.
Repeal of Previous Provisions
- Section 29 and Section 30 of Republic Act No. 8042 are repealed to accommodate these new provisions.
Supremacy and Continuity Clause
- Any laws, issuances, or regulations inconsistent with this Act are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.
- If any part of the Act is declared invalid or unconstitutional, other parts remain effective.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect 15 days after publication in at least two newspapers of general circulation.
