  • Priority in state scholarships via CHED and TESDA, subject to applicant qualifications.
  • Encouragement for private schools to adopt scholarship programs for winning athletes.

Retirement Benefits (Section 6)

  • Lump sum equivalent to 25% of total cash incentives earned during active sports career, payable within 60 days post retirement.

Death Benefits (Section 7)

  • Lump sum of ₱30,000 to primary beneficiaries (spouse and children), or secondary beneficiaries (parents, siblings if no primary beneficiaries), for funeral expenses.

Cash Incentives for Athletes (Section 8)

  • Individual event medalists receive cash rewards depending on competition and medal:
    • Olympic Games: ₱5M (gold), ₱2.5M (silver), ₱1M (bronze)
    • World Championships: ₱2.5M, ₱1M, ₱500K respectively
    • Asian Games: ₱1M, ₱500K, ₱100K respectively
    • SEA Games: ₱100K, ₱50K, ₱10K respectively
  • Team event payouts divided among members; teams ≥5 members receive double individual awards divided equally.
  • Demonstration and exhibition sports earn 50% of Olympic awards.
  • Monetary incentives for SEA Games athletes who equal or surpass existing game records starting 2001.

Benefits for Past Achievers (Section 9)

  • Athletes who won medals in international competitions before the law’s enactment receive Section 4 benefits and 50% of cash incentives in Section 8, offset by previous awards received.

Coaches and Trainers Incentives (Section 10)

  • Incentives at 50% of athlete awards if coached the athlete/team at least one year prior to competition.
  • Certification required from athlete or team captain.
  • Philippine Coaches Accreditation Council created to accredit and recognize coaches and trainers.

Adjustment of Cash Incentives (Section 11)

  • PSC may adjust schedules based on studies and consultations to reflect athletes’ economic needs.
  • No reduction below prescribed minimums allowed.
  • Donations are separate from mandated incentives.

Funding (Section 12)

  • Source: Net income from Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), allocated to National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) of PSC.

Implementation and Rules (Section 13)

  • Separability Clause: invalidity of any part does not affect remainder of Act (Section 14).
