Christmas Break Schedule
- Christmas vacation starts on December 23, 1999.
- Classes resume on January 3, 2000.
Summer Classes for Secondary Level
- Summer classes commence on April 5, 2000, and conclude on May 30, 2000.
- Summer sessions consist of 3-hour classes per unit over 45 days, inclusive of Saturdays.
- This adjustment is to fulfill the increased number of contact hours and class days prescribed by DECS Order No. 2, s. 1993, and RA 7797.
Observance of Holidays
- Regular holidays include those authorized under Executive Order No. 203 dated June 20, 1987.
- Other school holidays can be observed as long as the minimum required class hours and days are maintained.
Compulsory Compliance for Public Schools
- The calendar dates specified in the order are mandatory for all public elementary and secondary schools.
Guidelines for Private Schools
- Private schools may deviate from the official calendar given the following conditions:
- Opening date must not be earlier than the first Monday of June nor later than the third Monday of June.
- The minimum number of class days must be met.
- The appropriate DECS office must be notified in advance about the calendar deviation.
Distribution of School Days and Examinations
- Key dates for holidays, examinations, and breaks are specifically identified:
- Independence Day on June 12 (legal holiday)
- First Quarter Examinations on August 12 and 13
- National Heroes Day on August 30 (legal holiday)
- Second Quarter Examinations on October 21 and 22
- Special and legal holidays in November and December including All Saints Day (Nov 1), Bonifacio Day (Nov 30), Christmas Day (Dec 25), Rizal Day (Dec 30), and a special holiday on December 31.
- Education Week starting December 6
- Christmas Vacation from December 23 to January 3
- Third Quarter Examinations on January 20 and 21
- Grade VI and Fourth Year Final Examinations on March 21, 22 and April 5
- Last class day on March 31
- Summer classes end on May 30

- The order mandates immediate and wide dissemination of the school calendar information.
- Compliance with the calendar is directed to ensure uniformity and adherence to educational standards across public schools.
