Revised Syllabi for Chemical Engineering Exam

The resolution is issued pursuant to Section 13 of Republic Act No. 5734, otherwise known as the “Chemical Engineering Law of the Philippines.”
The resolution is adopted in the exercise of the Professional Regulation Commission’s powers under P.D. 223 as amended.
Prior policies on adopting examination syllabi are grounded on Memorandum Circular No. 8, Series of 1992, Resolution No. 265, Series of 1993, Memorandum Circular No. 93-037, Series of 1993, and Memorandum Circular No. 93-04, Series of 1993.
The board previously issued Resolution No. 03, Series of 1993 for the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination syllabi, and this resolution replaces it with revised syllabi.

The Board of Chemical Engineering adopts syllabi for each subject in the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination to ensure consistent coverage of various concepts, principles, and application.
Each adopted syllabus serves as the basis for the preparation of examination questions that are inputted into the data bank.
The Board revises existing syllabi through consultation with experts from different associations, including the Council of Deans and Heads of Chemical Engineering Schools of the Philippines and the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc.

The resolution adopts and promulgates a revised syllabus for each subject in the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination.
The revised syllabi are embodied in Annex “A” appended to the resolution.
The adoption is implemented as an internal rule of the Board designed to standardize subject coverage for licensure examination question development.

The resolution requires approval by the Commission before it takes effect.
After approval, the resolution becomes effective after fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.
The Board ensures dissemination of the resolution to all recognized schools offering the course of Chemical Engineering and other concerned entities.
The resolution directs the Board to proceed with dissemination after approval and publication to align schools and stakeholders with the revised syllabi.

The resolution adopts revised syllabi to supersede the syllabi adopted earlier under Board Resolution No. 03, Series of 1993.
The resolution expressly identifies the role of earlier Memorandum Circulars and a prior resolution as the policy framework for adopting syllabi in licensure examinations.
The revised syllabi apply to the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination subjects covered by Annex “A.”

The resolution is adopted by the Board of Chemical Engineering on August 17, 1995.
The Chairman is Lydia G. Tansinsin and the members are Rogelio A. Panlasiqui and Lauro D. Guevarra.
The resolution is attested to by Carlos G. Almelor, Secretary, Professional Regulatory Boards.
The resolution is approved as part of the Board’s rules and regulations by Hermogenes P. Pobre, Commissioner, and by Mariano A. Mendiata and Alfonso G. Abad, Associate Commissioners.
