Enumeration and Oversight of Executive Departments
- Nine executive departments are established:
- Department of the Interior
- Department of Finance
- Department of Justice
- Department of Agriculture and Commerce
- Department of Public Works and Communications
- Department of Instruction and Information
- Department of Labor
- Department of National Defense
- Department of Health and Public Welfare
- Each department is under the direct control of their respective secretaries.
- Department secretaries exercise their functions subject to the general supervision and control of the President.
Departmental Functions and Executive Authority
- Each department shall perform its functions under the executive authority of its respective secretary:
- Interior Secretary for Department of the Interior
- Finance Secretary for Department of Finance
- Justice Secretary for Department of Justice
- Agriculture and Commerce Secretary for Department of Agriculture and Commerce
- Public Works and Communications Secretary for Department of Public Works and Communications
- Instruction and Information Secretary for Department of Instruction and Information
- Labor Secretary for Department of Labor
- National Defense Secretary for Department of National Defense
- Health and Public Welfare Secretary for Department of Health and Public Welfare
Abolition and Personnel Transfer of the Department of Information and Public Relations
- Department of Information and Public Relations (created in 1943) is abolished.
- Officials and employees of the abolished department may be transferred, with presidential approval and depending on service needs, to:
- Department of Instruction and Information in the Philippines
- Division of Information, which may be established in the Office of the Resident Commissioner of the Philippines to the United States
Repeal of Previous Executive Orders
- Executive Order No. 15-W (1944) and any other executive orders inconsistent with this reorganization are hereby repealed.
Effective Date and Authentication
- The Executive Order is signed in Manila on February 27, 1945.
- Signed by President Sergio Osmeña and Secretary to the President, Jose S. Reyes.
