Required Documents for Registration by the Land Transportation Office (LTO)
- Court decision confirming the seizure of the motor vehicle.
- Clearance from the Comprehensive Highroads Patrol Force Group (CHPFG).
- Appropriate Insurance Certificate of Cover.
- Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) order for dropping the motor vehicle from the fleet if it is a for-hire vehicle.
- Notice and approval from the financing company if the Certificate of Registration is encumbered (i.e., subject to a lien).
- Surrender of license plates from the confiscated vehicle.
- Completion of actual motor vehicle inspection alongside a duly accomplished Motor Vehicle Inspection Report.
Financial Responsibilities
- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is responsible for paying all registration fees and authorized charges to the LTO.
- Payments must comply with existing laws, rules, and regulations concerning such charges.
Issuance and Recordation of Certificates of Registration
- LTO shall expedite the issuance of the Certificate of Registration for the confiscated motor vehicles.
- The Certificate of Registration will be registered in the name of the government, specifically recorded under the books of DENR.
- This process shall adhere strictly to existing rules and regulations governing vehicle registration.
