Geographic reapportionment of districts
- Section 1 reapportions the First Legislative District of the Province of South Cotabato to create the Lone Legislative District of General Santos City.
- Section 1 requires that the First Legislative District list be composed of:
- (a) First Legislative District: Polomolok, Tampakan, Tupi.
- (b) Second Legislative District: Koronadal City, Banga, Lake Sebu, Norala, Santo NiAo, Surallah, Tantangan, T'Boli.
- (c) Third Legislative District: General Santos City.
- Section 1 directs that the legislative district structure created by the Act governs from the next national and local elections after effectivity.
Holdover of incumbent Members
- Section 2 provides that incumbent Representatives of the present First and Second Districts of the Province of South Cotabato continue to represent their respective districts.
- Section 2 limits the holdover period until the new Representatives have been elected and qualified.
Implementation rules by COMELEC
- Section 3 mandates that the Commission on Elections issue the necessary rules and regulations to implement Republic Act No. 11243.
- Section 3 sets the deadline for issuance: the rules and regulations must be issued within thirty (30) days after the Act’s effectivity.
- Section 3 ties implementation to the Act’s reapportionment and its commencement in the next national and local elections.
Effect of conflicting laws; repealing clause
- Section 4 provides that all laws, rules, and regulations inconsistent with Republic Act No. 11243 are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.
