Board of Radiologic Technology

- Member associations must be accredited
Qualifications of Board Members
- Must be Filipino citizens, good moral character, at least 30 years old
- No pecuniary interest in schools offering radiologic technology
- Radiologic technologists on board must have 10 years’ practice
- Radiologist and physicist members must each have 10 years’ practice
Term of Office
- Board members serve for 3 years
- Initial terms staggered: chairman 3 years, two members 2 years, two members 1 year
- Vacancies filled only for unexpired terms
Duties and Functions
- Enforce the Act
- Administer oaths
- Issue, suspend or revoke registrations
- Investigate violations, issue subpoenas, and compel attendance
- Conduct annual board examinations
- Maintain standards and ethics
- Promulgate rules after PRC approval
- Adopt official seal
Compensation and Removal of Board Members
- Receive same compensation as other PRC boards
- Removal by President upon PRC recommendation for cause after administrative hearing
Supervision and Record Custody
- Board supervised by PRC
- Records kept by PRC, alteration/removal requires Board authorization
Rules, Regulations, and Reports
- Board sets professional and ethical standards with PRC approval
- Rules take effect one month after publication
- Annual reporting to PRC required
Practice Requirements
- No practice without registration unless otherwise exempted
Exemptions from Examinations
- First Board members exempted
- Persons who passed specific prior government or DOH-administered examinations
- Foreign radiologic technologists invited for lectures or consultation with special permits
Examination
- Annual exam for registration
- Applicants must be Filipino, good moral character, and hold recognized degrees or diplomas
- Subjects for x-ray technology and radiologic technology examinations detailed with specified weights
Reporting and Passing Criteria
- Exam results reported within 120 days for approval
- Passing average is 75% overall, with no grade below 60%
- Reexamination allowed for subjects below 60%, limited to three total attempts
Oath-taking and Certification
- Successful examinees to take oath before practice
- Certificates issued upon payment and compliance
- Certificates contain official details and seal
Fees
- Application: ₱350
- Registration post-exam: ₱250
- Registration without exam: ₱250
- Replacement of lost certificate: ₱100
- Re-issuance of revoked certificate: ₱100
Penal Provisions
- Punishments for unregistered practice or misuse of certificates
- Fine ₱10,000 to ₱40,000 or imprisonment 1 to 6 years, or both
- Grounds include using another’s certificate, expired or revoked licenses, false evidence, misrepresentation
Appropriations
- Board member compensation included in General Appropriations Act annually
Repealing Clause
- All inconsistent laws and regulations are repealed or modified
Effectivity
- Law takes effect one month after publication in a general circulation newspaper
