Legal basis for the passing standard
- Section 6(g) of P.D. No. 223, as amended (creating the Professional Regulation Commission), authorizes Professional Regulatory Boards to determine the appropriate passing general rating where not provided in the law regulating the profession.

Passing general rating requirement
- An examinee must obtain a general average rating of at least seventy five (75%) percent to pass the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
- An examinee must also obtain no rating below fifty percent (50%) in any subject.
When the rule applies
- The passing rule applies starting with the August, 1996 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
