  • Officers’ terms are limited to the duration of the conference.

Executive Committee

  • An executive committee is elected from among the Katipunan’s members.
  • The committee acts on behalf of the Katipunan ng mga Sanggunian when it is not in session.

Secretariat

  • The organization shall have a permanent secretariat.
  • Staff support is provided by the Department of Local Government and Community Development.

Powers of the Sangguniang Bayan

  • Retain their legislative powers subject to existing laws and presidential decrees.
  • Exception applies to those in Metro Manila pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 824, Section 9.

Term of Office of Members

  • Current members’ terms are interim and temporary.
  • Members hold office until the President rescinds their appointment or annuls their election based on grounds provided.
  • The President may also call for new elections supervised by the Commission on Elections.
  • Terms of those elected will be specified by a future presidential decree.

Repealing Clause

  • Repeals or amends laws, executive orders, or regulations inconsistent with this decree.

Effectivity

  • The decree takes effect immediately upon approval.
