Government and Private Sector Participation
- All government agencies and instrumentalities, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, are mandated to support the observance
- Government-owned and controlled corporations and local government units are also included
- The private sector is encouraged to participate
- Employees must be given sufficient time and opportunity to engage in activities related to National Press Freedom Day conducted at their workplaces
Role of Educational and Media Institutions
- The Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) shall lead schools in the observance
- These agencies will consult with the Office of the President, government and private media organizations
- They shall organize consciousness-raising activities on the importance of the press
- Activities will also cover the rights and social responsibilities of the press
- Emphasis on eliminating all forms of violence against the press
Effectivity Clause
- The Act will take effect 15 days after its publication
- Publication must be done in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation
