Need for Speedy Transcription of Stenographic Notes
- Timely transcription of stenographic notes from hearings is critical to achieving rapid case resolution.
- Speedier transcription facilitates expedited case settlements as mandated.
Supreme Court Administrative Directives
- Administrative Order No. 24-90 of the Supreme Court mandates prompt delivery of transcripts by stenographers.
- A resolution by the Supreme Court grants stenographers half of the transcript cost as an incentive for speedy transcription.

- Certified transcripts of stenographic notes must be provided upon request.
- The fee for each transcript page was set at ₱5.00.
- Distribution of the net proceeds (₱5.00 minus ₱1.00 for xerox/paper costs = ₱4.00) is split equally: ₱2.00 to CIAC and ₱2.00 to the stenographer/clerk/secretary.
Increase in Transcript Cost due to Economic Realities
- Due to changing economic conditions, an increase in transcript cost is deemed necessary to maintain service quality and adequate compensation.
CIAC Resolution No. 04-98 Provisions
- The transcript cost per page is increased from ₱5.00 to ₱6.00.
- The principle of dividing the proceeds remains: one-half to CIAC and one-half to the stenographer/clerk/secretary.
- This aims at sustaining incentive and operational costs.
Approval and Implementation
