Purpose and policy statement
- Executive Order No. 1017 states that combat pay and hazardous duty pay are incentives meant to compensate personnel for perils encountered in performance of their tasks.
- Executive Order No. 1017 directs the increase of these incentives because prior rates have become inadequate due to the general increase in the prices of commodities.
Authorized increases in pay rates
- Section 1 increases the rates of combat pay for officers, enlisted personnel, draftees and extended trainees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
- Section 1 sets the combat pay rate at TWO HUNDRED FORTY PESOS (240.00) per month.
- Section 1 increases the rates of hazardous duty pay for officers and men of the Integrated National Police.
- Section 1 sets the hazardous duty pay rate at TWO HUNDRED FORTY PESOS (240.00) per month.
Coverage and who receives
- Section 1 covers officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines performing combat duty under the combat pay scheme.
- Section 1 covers enlisted personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines performing combat duty under the combat pay scheme.
- Section 1 covers draftees and extended trainees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the combat pay scheme.

Implementing authority and instructions
- Section 2 assigns the Minister of National Defense the duty to issue implementing instructions necessary and proper to carry out the intent of Executive Order No. 1017.
Funding and appropriation source
- Section 3 requires that the funds needed to implement Executive Order No. 1017 be charged against the respective Annual Appropriations of the AFP and INP.
