Previous Subsistence Allowance Adjustments
- Original subsistence allowance was increased from Twelve Pesos (P12.00) to Eighteen Pesos (P18.00) per day under Executive Order No. 257.
- Further increased from Eighteen Pesos (P18.00) to Thirty Pesos (P30.00) per day as provided by Republic Act 6831 and the General Appropriations Act of Fiscal Year 1990.
Justification for the Increase
- The existing allocation of Thirty Pesos (P30.00) per day is deemed inadequate.
- Increase necessitated by rising prices of foodstuff.
- Aim to ensure quality and quantity of food suitable for military personnel.
New Subsistence Allowance Amount and Effectivity
- Increase of subsistence allowance from Thirty Pesos (P30.00) to Sixty Pesos (P60.00) per day.
- Effective starting September 1, 1998.
Funding Provisions
- Funding for the subsistence allowance increase in calendar year 1998 to be sourced from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Reserve Control Account.
- For calendar year 1999 onwards, funds to be included in the Annual Appropriations of the AFP.
Implementation and Oversight
- Secretary of National Defense tasked to issue necessary implementing instructions to effectuate the Executive Order.
Repeal and Modification of Conflicting Rules
- All existing rules, regulations, or issuances inconsistent with this Executive Order are repealed or modified accordingly.
Effectivity of the Order
- The Executive Order takes effect on September 1, 1998.
