Purpose and what the law increases
- Republic Act No. 2389 increases the number of agents in the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
- Republic Act No. 2389 increases the salaries of NBI investigation agents.
- Section 1 establishes the staffing complements and corresponding annual salaries.
Covered offices and positions
- Section 1 provides that the Division of Investigation of the NBI shall have one chief known as the Chief, Investigation Division and Evaluation officer.
- Section 1 provides that the Division shall be assisted by fourteen (14) supervising agents.
- Section 1 provides that the Division shall also have fourteen (14) senior investigation agents.
- Section 1 provides that the Division shall have one hundred seven (107) investigation agents.
Salary rates by rank
- Section 1 sets the annual salary of the Chief, Investigation Division and Evaluation officer at six thousand two hundred forty pesos.
- Section 1 sets the annual salary of each of the fourteen (14) supervising agents at six thousand pesos per annum.
- Section 1 sets the annual salary of each of the fourteen (14) senior investigation agents at five thousand seven hundred sixty pesos per annum.
- Section 1 sets the annual salary of investigation agents as follows:
- Thirty-seven (37) investigation agents at five thousand three hundred seventy-six pesos per annum each;
- Five (5) investigation agents at four thousand eight hundred sixty pesos per annum each; and
- Sixty-five (65) investigation agents at four thousand one hundred eighty-eight pesos per annum each.
Duties and assignment authority
- Section 1 provides that the fourteen supervising agents may be assigned as heads of district offices of the NBI.
- Section 1 provides that the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation may assign other duties to the supervising agents.
Salary application and benefits preservation
- Section 2 requires investigation agents to receive the salary rates provided in Republic Act No. 2389.
- Section 2 requires that receiving the Act’s salary rates shall be without prejudice to benefits the investigation agents may receive under Reorganization Plans Nos. 1-A and 2-A regarding classification and pay, and other salary laws.
Appropriation and funding rule
- Section 3 appropriates, in addition to sums provided in the current Appropriation Act, such sums as are necessary to carry out Republic Act No. 2389.
- Section 3 directs that the appropriation is drawn from any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
- Section 3 commands that henceforth, appropriation to cover salaries of investigation agents as provided in the Act shall be carried in the annual General Appropriation Acts.
