Ban on Firearms for Barangay Tanods

To enforce full compliance with RA 10591.
To inform and remind Local Chief Executives that barangay tanods and Police Auxiliary Unit members are legally prohibited from carrying firearms during their official duties.

The Memorandum applies to:
- Provincial Governors, City and Municipal Mayors.
- Punong Barangays and Barangay Tanods.
- DILG Regional, Provincial, and City Directors and Field Officers.
- ARMM Regional Governor and other concerned parties.

Local Chief Executives are instructed to:
1. Adhere strictly to the provisions of RA 10591 regarding firearms ownership and usage.
2. Recall all LGU-owned firearms assigned to barangay tanods, Police Auxiliary Unit members, or LGU employees who do not hold plantilla positions.
3. Direct barangay tanods not to carry any firearms, whether LGU-owned or personally owned, while performing official functions.
4. Ensure strict enforcement of these policies within their jurisdiction.
The DILG Regional Directors, Field Officers, and ARMM Regional Governor shall disseminate the Memorandum widely within their territories.
