Age Limit for Tourist Car Units
- The units proposed for operation must not exceed five (5) years of age, with the age reckoned from the year of manufacture.
- The Department of Tourism (DOT) is responsible for determining the age of the units.
Minimum Number of Units per Operator
- Each operator applying for a franchise must own or operate at least three (3) tourist car units.
Legal Effectivity
- The guidelines become effective fifteen (15) days after filing three (3) copies of the memorandum circular with the University of the Philippines Law Center.
- This process complies with Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 11, dated October 9, 1992.
Institutional Cooperation
- The guidelines are issued pursuant to a Memorandum of Agreement among the Department of Tourism (DOT), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), reflecting inter-agency coordination to enhance tourist car services.
