Required Oath of Allegiance
- Section 1 requires Dr. Patrick B. Connon to take an oath of allegiance in the form stated by law.
- The oath requires renunciation of all allegiance or fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, and specifically requires renunciation of allegiance to the Government of the United States of which he is a subject or citizen.
- The oath requires the subscriber to support and defend the Constitution of the Philippines and to obey the laws, legal orders and decrees of the duly constituted authorities of the Republic of the Philippines.
- The oath requires acknowledgment of the supreme authority of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and a commitment to maintain true faith and allegiance thereto.
- The oath must state that the obligation is imposed voluntarily without mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and must end with “So help me God.”
Oath Recording Deadline and Registry
- Section 1 requires that the oath of allegiance be recorded in the Civil Registry of the City of Manila.
- Section 1 sets the recording deadline as within thirty days after the approval of this Act.
- Section 1 links full enjoyment of Filipino citizenship to the taking and registration of the oath as required.
Effectivity of the Act
- Section 2 provides that the Act takes effect upon its approval.
- The Act was approved on August 10, 1970.
