Representation within the Commission

  • Among the seven appointive members:
    • Three represent the labor group, with at least one woman among them.
    • Three represent the management group, with at least one woman among them.

Appointment and Term of Members

  • All appointive members are appointed by the President of the Philippines.
  • The Chairman is designated by the President from among the Commission members.
  • The term for appointive members is three years.
  • For the first six appointive members, terms are staggered as one, two, and three years for every two members respectively.
  • Any vacancy, except by expiration of term, is filled only for the unexpired portion of the term.

Compensation and Meeting Benefits

  • Appointive members receive a per diem of PHP 1,500 for each meeting attended.
  • Compensation is limited to a maximum of eight meetings per month.
  • Members who adjudicate pending cases before the Commission are also entitled to the same per diem.

Effectivity

  • The Act takes effect upon its approval on March 3, 1993.
