Powers and Duties of Local Executives Regarding Peace and Order
- The Manager of the Metropolitan Manila Commission, provincial governors, city mayors, and municipal mayors are vested with specific powers and duties within their respective jurisdictions.
- These include ensuring the faithful execution of laws and ordinances by calling upon Integrated National Police Commanders or members to:
- Suppress disorder, riots, lawless violence, and seditious conspiracy.
- Enforce laws and apprehend violators.
- They are authorized to bring peace and order problems to the attention of the police and recommend improvements in law enforcement and public safety.
- Local executives must extend necessary support and cooperation to the Integrated National Police.
Joint Issuance of Rules and Regulations
- Appropriate circulars or rules and regulations governing the relationship and functions of local officials and Integrated National Police units shall be jointly issued by the concerned authorities.
