Eligibility for Veteran's Pension
- Filipino veterans as defined under the Act who are at least 65 years old are entitled to a monthly old-age pension of Five Thousand Pesos (PhP5,000.00).
- The pension is for life unless the veteran is already receiving a similar pension for the same consideration from other government funds.
Pension for Surviving Spouse
- The surviving spouse of a veteran, regardless of age, is entitled to a monthly pension of Five Thousand Pesos (PhP5,000.00).
- This pension continues until the surviving spouse dies or remarries.
- The pension shall not be paid if the surviving spouse is already receiving a similar pension from other Philippine government funds.
- This pension is separate and distinct from the death pension granted under another section of the law.
Funding and Appropriation
- The implementation of the Act is funded through appropriations included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Legal Amendments
- Specific sections (Sections 10 and 11) of Republic Act No. 6948, as amended, were further amended to reflect the changes introduced by this Act.
Repealing Clause
- All laws, decrees, orders, rules, and regulations or other issuances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are repealed or modified accordingly.
Separability Clause
- Should any provisions of this Act be declared unconstitutional, the remaining provisions shall continue to be effective.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.
