Life Insurance Benefits

Accident Insurance Benefits

    • ₱3,000 for brain injury resulting in loss of sanity.
    • ₱3,000 for permanent loss of sight in both eyes.
    • ₱2,000 for permanent loss of hearing in both ears.
    • ₱1,500 for permanent loss of sight in one eye.
    • ₱1,500 for loss of one limb.
    • ₱3,000 for loss or destruction of two or more limbs.
    • ₱2,000 for loss or destruction of both hands at or above the wrist.
    • ₱2,000 for loss or destruction of both feet at or above the ankle.
    • ₱1,000 for loss or destruction of one hand at or above the wrist.
    • ₱1,000 for loss or destruction of one foot at or above the ankle.
    • ₱100 for the loss or destruction of every thumb or great toe.
    • ₱80 for the loss or destruction of every finger or toe.
    • ₱700 for injuries requiring hospitalization of at least 40 days; less for shorter hospital stays as determined by GSIS.
    • ₱100 for injuries requiring at least 15 days of medical attention; lesser amounts for shorter durations as prescribed by GSIS rules.

Premium Payment and Government Responsibility

  • The national government shall pay annual premiums to the GSIS:
    • ₱15 for each barrio captain.
    • ₱10 for each councilman, barrio treasurer, and barrio secretary.
  • Non-payment or delay in premium payments does not invalidate insurance benefits.

Appropriations and Funding

  • An initial appropriation of ₱2,850,000 is authorized for payment of annual premiums upon approval of the Act.
  • Subsequent annual appropriations of the same amount or as needed must be included in the General Appropriations Act.
  • Unused funds for premiums shall revert to the general fund.
  • Certification by the Presidential Assistant on Community Development is required regarding the necessary premium amounts.

Amendment to the Act's Title

  • The Act's title is amended to reflect coverage extension to barrio captains, councilmen, barrio treasurers, and barrio secretaries and appropriations for insurance premiums.

Effectivity

  • The Act takes effect immediately upon its approval.
