Buildings and historical features required
- Section 2 requires construction of a monument to Lapu-lapu on any vacant place on the land where the battle of Mactan took place.
- Section 2 requires construction of a Liberty House on the same land area.
- Section 2 requires the Liberty House to depict “important personages, places and events,” including laws, customs and traditions in the history of the nation before and during the coming of Magellan.
Funding and appropriations authorized
- Section 3 authorizes a PHP 1,000,000 appropriation to carry out the Act’s purposes.
- Section 3 authorizes funding for development and beautification of the Liberty Shrine.
- Section 3 authorizes payment of adjacent lots acquired through negotiation or expropriation.
- Section 3 authorizes construction of a park and a suitable resthouse for visitors and tourists.
- Section 3 authorizes payment of salaries of necessary personnel.
- Section 3 directs that the authorized PHP 1,000,000 be taken out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Continuing support through annual appropriations
- Section 3 provides that necessary sums for the improvement and maintenance of the Liberty Shrine in subsequent years shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Effectivity
- Section 4 provides that the Act takes effect upon its approval.
- The Act was approved on June 21, 1969.
