Constitutional and legal policy basis

Declaration of annual Green Building Day
- Proclamation No. 1030 declares September 8 of every year as the “National Green Building Day.”
- The purpose of the annual declaration is to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing the government’s environmental protection commitment.
Lead agency and coordination duties
- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shall promote observance of the National Green Building Day.
- The DPWH, in coordination with relevant non-government organizations and civil society groups, shall identify the programs, projects, and activities for each year’s celebration.
Government-wide directions and local encouragement
- All other agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are directed to support the DPWH in the celebration of the National Green Building Day.
- All local government units (LGUs) are directed to support the DPWH in the celebration of the National Green Building Day and in the effective implementation of the proclamation.
- The private sector is encouraged to support the DPWH in the celebration of the National Green Building Day and in the effective implementation of the proclamation.
