Composition of the Judicial and Bar Council
- The JBC is created under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

Appointment and Terms of Regular Members

- Regular Members serve a term of four years.
- Initial term lengths for the first appointees to ensure staggered terms:
- Integrated Bar representative: 4 years
- Law professor: 3 years
- Retired Justice: 2 years
- Private sector representative: 1 year
Secretariat and Record-Keeping
- The Clerk of Court of the Supreme Court acts as Secretary ex-officio of the JBC.
- Responsibilities include keeping a detailed record of the Council’s proceedings.
Compensation and Budget
- Regular Members receive emoluments as determined by the Supreme Court.
- The Supreme Court allocates appropriations for the operations of the JBC in its annual budget.
Principal Functions and Additional Duties
- The primary function of the JBC is recommending appointees to the Judiciary.
- The JBC may also exercise other powers and duties as assigned by the Supreme Court.
Repeal of Inconsistent Provisions
- All laws, orders, issuances, rules, regulations, or parts thereof inconsistent with this Executive Order are repealed or modified accordingly.
Effectivity
- This Executive Order shall take effect immediately upon issuance on July 10, 1987.
