Governing Principles for Planning, Development, Promotion, and Management
- Coordination between the Department of Tourism (DOT), its attached agencies, the Provincial Government of Bohol, and the City Government of Tagbilaran is mandated for the formulation of a tourism development plan.
- The tourism development plan must be consistent with or integrated into the national tourism master plan of the DOT.
- The plan should aim to protect and enhance Bohol’s natural features and cultural heritage.
- The plan must also provide sustainable economic opportunities for the local community.
- The Provincial and City Governments shall use their powers under the Local Government Code to implement and enforce the tourism development plan.
- The DOT and attached agencies may offer technical and financial assistance for tourism infrastructure and skills development.
- Promotion of the tourism zone, both locally and internationally, is encouraged whenever practicable.
- A forum involving the private sector, NGOs, other interest groups, and government entities shall be created to foster investment and cultivate a culture of tourism.
Rule-Making and Agreement Authority
- The DOT, together with the Provincial Government of Bohol and the City Government of Tagbilaran, is authorized to adopt rules and regulations and enter into necessary agreements to implement the Act.
Effectivity
- The Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication is completed.
