Purpose and Government Commitment

Existing Zoning Restrictions Overturned
- Initially, the Tourist Belt was designated as Class "A" and Class "B" Residential Zones where commercial establishments were prohibited.
- This decree overrides previous zoning plans relating to Ermita-Malate, allowing specified commercial uses.
Prohibited Establishments and Activities
- New permits shall not be issued for the establishment of:
- Warehouses or open storage depots
- Dumps or yards
- Motor repair shops
- Gasoline service stations
- Light industries involving machinery
- Funeral establishments
Realty Tax Assessment Provisions
- Properties used exclusively as residential dwellings by their owners within the commercial zone shall continue to be assessed as residential properties for tax purposes.
Repeal and Modification of Conflicting Laws
- Any laws, ordinances, orders, rules, and regulations inconsistent with this decree are repealed or modified to conform.
Effectivity
- The decree took effect immediately upon promulgation on June 28, 1974.
