Law Summary

Upgrade of Health Care Services and Facilities

  • The existing health care services and facilities must be upgraded.
  • Upgrades must be commensurate with the increase in bed capacity.

Increase in Workforce

  • The hospital's workforce, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, must be increased correspondingly to the bed capacity expansion.

Creation of Additional Positions

  • The Secretary of the DOH, after consulting the Chief of Hospital, and coordinating with the Secretary of Budget and Management and the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, will determine additional new positions to be created.

Implementation and Funding

  • The Secretary of the DOH must include the implementation of the Act in the DOH’s program immediately.
  • Funding for this implementation shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Modification of Inconsistent Laws

  • All laws, executive orders, issuances, rules, and regulations inconsistent with this Act are modified accordingly.

Effectivity

  • The Act takes effect fifteen (15) days after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
