Establishing Davao del Norte Regional Sports Academy

Section 2 directs the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, in coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), to take necessary steps to upgrade, improve, and modernize existing facilities, equipment, and personnel for integration into the academy.
Section 2 requires the same Province and PSC coordination to create necessary training programs and competitions for the academy.
Section 2 requires the creation of a system to maintain and manage the facilities to accomplish the objectives and purposes of the Act.

Section 3 provides that the construction, establishment, and operation of the academy shall be funded by the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte.
Section 3 allows additional funds from grants by the PSC and the Office of the President.
Section 3 permits the academy to obtain grants and endowments from local or foreign sources intended for sports development.

Section 4 requires the Secretary of Education to immediately include the academy’s programs for operation in the Department.
Section 4 requires that the funding for the academy’s programs be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Section 5 mandates the PSC, in coordination with the Department of Education (DepED) and the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, to promulgate the necessary Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).
Section 5 requires promulgation of the IRR within ninety (90) days after the Act’s enactment into law.

Section 6 provides that the Act takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
