Creation of Municipality of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur

Section 2 establishes the technical description of the new municipality’s boundaries through a coordinate-and-bearing line table.
Section 2 specifies the boundary segments by LINE, BEARING, and DISTANCE, including entries 1–2 through 9–1.

Section 3 designates the seat of government of the new municipality in Barangay Tigbao.

Section 4 requires ratification by a majority of the votes cast in a plebiscite conducted in the affected areas.
Section 4 directs that the plebiscite be conducted within one hundred eighty (180) days from the approval of this Act.
Section 4 provides that, after ratification, the mayor, vice-mayor, and members of the sangguniang bayan of the new municipality shall be elected in the next regular election of local officials.
Section 4 states that the new municipality is duly organized upon the assumption of office of the first set of elected local officials.

Section 5 assigns the Commission on Elections the duty to conduct and supervise the plebiscite.
Section 5 provides that plebiscite expenses shall be taken from the Contingent Fund under the current fiscal year appropriations.

Section 6 provides that the Act takes effect upon its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.

The Act is Republic Act No. 7162, titled “AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF TIGBAO IN THE PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR.”
The Act is approved on November 8, 1991.
The Act provides that it originated in the House of Representatives and was finally passed by the House and Senate on August 12, 1991 and October 8, 1990, respectively.
