Applicability of Existing Provincial Laws
- All laws applicable to regularly organized provinces automatically apply to South Cotabato unless specifically provided otherwise.
Provincial Capitals and Administrative Centers
- Koronadal Municipality is designated as the provincial capital of South Cotabato.
- All provincial and national offices for South Cotabato shall be established on government lots within Koronadal.
- Pagalungan Municipality shall be the new capital of Cotabato Province.
- Until infrastructure development in Pagalungan is completed, Cotabato City remains Cotabato's capital.
Initial Government Officials and Personnel Organization
- The first provincial governor, vice-governor, and members of the Provincial Board for South Cotabato are to be elected during the 1967 local elections.
- Government officers and employees for South Cotabato shall be appointed according to existing laws.
Legislative Representation
- Both Cotabato and South Cotabato provinces shall each have one representative in the House of Representatives.
- The incumbent representative for the original Province of Cotabato continues to serve until the end of his term.
- A special election for South Cotabato’s House representative will be held concurrently with the 1967 local elections.
- The elected representative of South Cotabato will serve until December 30, 1969.
Division of Government Obligations and Properties
- Upon the act’s effectivity, the President of the Philippines will proportionately divide the obligations, funds, assets, and properties of the original Province of Cotabato between Cotabato and South Cotabato.
- This division is to be made based on recommendations from the Auditor General.
Effectivity
- The law takes effect immediately upon its approval on July 18, 1966.
