Creating Lutayan from existing municipality
- Republic Act No. 4868 separates the barrios Lutayan, Bayasong, Tamnag, An-tong, Blingkong, Bulok, Talik, Kolondapok and Mamali from the Municipality of Buluan, Province of Cotabato (Section 1).
- The separated barrios are constituted into a distinct and independent municipality known as the Municipality of Lutayan (Section 1).
- The new municipality remains in the same province—Cotabato (Section 1).
- The seat of government of the new municipality is the present site of Barrio Tamnag (Section 1).
Territory and boundary specifications
- The law fixes Lutayan’s boundaries by reference to specific boundary lines and directional bearings from a starting corner point (Section 1).
- The boundaries begin at the corner point of the boundary line of Buluan and Columbio and then proceed along the boundary line of Koronadal by traveling due west for 9,000 meters, more or less (Section 1).
- The boundary continues north, 39 degrees, zero minute, west along the boundary line of Buluan and Tantangan for 4,400 meters, more or less (Section 1).
- The boundary continues north, 38 degrees, 30 minutes, east, passing the eastern sitios of Tugal and Maindang for 2,300 meters, more or less (Section 1).
- The boundary then proceeds due north, passing through the center of Buluan Lake for 3,500 meters, more or less (Section 1).
- The boundary then goes due east, passing at about one kilometer north of Sumangolong until it intersects the boundary line of Buluan and Columbio at 6,000 meters, more or less (Section 1).
- The boundary ends by going south, 26 degrees, zero minute east along the boundary line of Buluan and Columbio back to the point of beginning, at 9,400 meters, more or less (Section 1).
Local officials: election and qualification
- Republic Act No. 4868 provides that the first mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors of the Municipality of Lutayan shall be elected (Section 2).
- The first officials are elected in the next general elections for local officials in 1967 (Section 2).
- The first elected officials must have qualified (Section 2).
