Legal basis and authority
- The creation is done upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Interior.
- Section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code is the legal basis for creating the municipality.
Policy or statement of intent
- Executive Order No. 248 establishes the legal creation of a new municipal government entity in Samar to be known as the Municipality of San Jose.
Territory and boundary description
- Executive Order No. 248 defines the municipality of San Jose as consisting of the portion of the former municipality of Bobon described by its bounding lines.
- On the north, the boundary is an imaginary line drawn to place within San Jose jurisdiction Gilbert Island, Cabaogon Islands, Pangilala Island, and other adjacent islands.
- On the east, the boundary is a straight imaginary line starting from the northern coast, running southerly through Km. post 162 on the Bobon-Lavezares road, continuing until it intersects the present San Antonio-Bobon boundary at a point exactly west of the center of the barrio of Santander in Bobon.
- On the south, the boundary is the present San Antonio-Bobon boundary.
- On the west, the boundary is the present Lavezares-Bobon boundary.
- The territorial description is based on data from the 1939 Census Atlas of the Philippines and a rough sketch map submitted by petitioners.
Municipal composition: barrios
- The municipality of San Jose contains the following barrios:
- Carangian (the seat of government),
- Rosario,
- Jamoog,
- Buenavista,
- Giratag,
- Aguadahan,
- Salhag,
- Tubigdanao, and
- Bag-ong Sabang.
Adjustment of the parent municipality (Bobon)
- The municipality of Bobon retains its present territory minus the portion included in the municipality of San Jose.
