Functions and Regulatory Powers
- Prescribe measures to regulate production, import, and export of radiation-emitting and non-ionizing radiation apparatus.
- Require registration of such devices within six months from the decree's effectivity.
- Conduct inspections of radiation equipment installed in private and government premises.
- Issue rules and regulations approved by the Secretary of Health to protect radiation workers.
- Establish and maintain a National Radiation Standard Section in coordination with the Philippine Atomic Energy Commission.
- Assist in the training of radiation workers.
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate information on radiation protection.
Cooperation and Coordination
- Mandates the Radiation Health Office to cooperate and coordinate with other governmental and private entities.
- Engagement with international organizations involved in radiation-related activities to ensure comprehensive regulation and safety.
Appropriation and Funding
- An initial appropriation of Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (P200,000.00) is allocated from the National Treasury for the establishment and operation of the office.
- Provision for continued funding through inclusion in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Repealing Clause
- All existing laws, decrees, orders, rules, or regulations inconsistent with this decree are repealed, revised, or amended accordingly.
Effectivity
- The decree takes immediate effect upon issuance, establishing the regulatory framework for radiation health and safety in the Philippines.
