Composition of the Committee
- The committee consists of nine members drawn from various government and community sectors:
- District Land Officer (Mr. Antonio PaAgilinan)
- District Forester (Mr. Mamerto M. Villanueva)
- Provincial Commander (Maj. Mariano Tumaliuan)
- Representative of the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (Mr. Antonio Adriatico)
- Superintendent of NARRA Project (Mr. Emiliano O. Ozaeta)
- Chairman of the Provincial Agricultural Council (Mr. Zacarias Umali)
- Representative from Calapan Rotary Club (Mr. Pedro Abelgas)
- Representative from Calapan Women’s Club (Mrs. Candida Nable)
- Social Worker in charge (Miss Esperanza Vejilla)
Mandate and Activities of the Committee
- Responsible for assisting in the allocation of public lands to landless individuals.
- Conduct a comprehensive census of squatters in the province.
- Conduct a census of new settlers who have yet to secure land for occupation.
- Maintain an updated list of available public lands across Oriental Mindoro.
Role of the District Land Officer in Land Allocation
- The District Land Officer is authorized to prioritize persons recommended by the committee in the allocation of land lots.
- This facilitates the efficient and fair allocation of public lands to deserving individuals.
Government Support and Reporting
- The committee may request assistance from any government department, bureau, office, agency, or instrumentality to carry out its functions.
- It is required to submit periodic reports on its activities directly to the President of the Philippines.
Effectivity
- The Order takes effect immediately upon issuance, underscoring the urgency and importance of the committee’s function in addressing squatter and settler land concerns in Oriental Mindoro.
