Objectives of the Administrative Order
- To standardize the newborn screening fee or the cost of the specimen collection kit charged by the NSC.
- To establish the maximum allowable service fee that all health facilities collecting newborn screening samples can charge.
Coverage of the Administrative Order
- Applicable to all newborn screening centers.
- Covers all health facilities collecting newborn screening samples, including hospitals, lying-in clinics, rural health units, and health centers.
- Applies to both public (government) and private sector facilities.
Prescribed Fees and Costs
- The fee for the Newborn Screening Specimen Collection Kit charged by the NSC is fixed at PHP 550.00.
- Maximum allowable service fee for sample collection by facilities such as hospitals, lying-ins, and health centers is set at PHP 50.00.
Repealing Clause
- Rescinds or revokes any provisions of Administrative Order No. 1, s. 2000 and Administrative Order No. 121, s. 2003, or any related issuances inconsistent with this order.
Effectivity of the Order
- The order takes effect fifteen (15) days after filing with the University of the Philippines Law Center.
- Signed by the Secretary of Health on February 8, 2005.
