Academic Programs and Offerings
- The Institute is authorized to continue offering its current secondary education programs.
- It is also empowered to offer post-secondary programs focusing on agriculture, technology and engineering, and teacher education.
- These programs are aligned with government priorities for educational development.
- The Institute may also offer short-term technical and vocational courses.
- All academic offerings are subject to the policies set by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS).
Management of Assets and Property
- Titles and ownership of assets and properties previously under the Barotac Nuevo Comprehensive High School will be transferred to the Barotac Nuevo Polytechnic Institute.
- Such transfer will comply with all existing laws, rules, and regulations.
Faculty and Employee Status
- Current faculty and employees of the former high school shall be retained as personnel of the new polytechnic institute.
- Employees who choose to retire are entitled to receive benefits and privileges as provided by existing laws.
Regulatory Authority and Implementation
- The Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports is authorized to issue the necessary rules and regulations to facilitate the conversion and operationalization of the Institute.
- These rules and regulations must be in accordance with existing laws.
Funding and Appropriations
- Funding required for the implementation of this Act shall be drawn from the current year's appropriation allocated to the Barotac Nuevo National Comprehensive High School.
- Subsequent operational and maintenance expenditures will be provided for in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect immediately upon approval.
- This particular Act lapsed into law without the President's signature on April 22, 1995, pursuant to the constitutional provision allowing such process after a specific period.
