Policy and purpose statement
- The State declares it is the policy to observe the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo every 27th of July in recognition of its exemplary feat of leading its members towards spiritual enlightment and good citizenry.
- The Act ties the holiday observance to national recognition of the Iglesia ni Cristo’s civic and spiritual role.
Special national working holiday
- July 27 of every year is declared as a special national working holiday.
- The holiday is observed in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo in the Philippines.
Amendment and repeal rule
- Republic Act No. 9645 amends Section 26, Chapter 7 of Executive Order No. 292 (Administrative Code of 1987, as amended) for purposes of establishing the July 27 special national working holiday.
- Any law, presidential decree or issuance, executive order, letter of instruction, administrative order, rule, or regulation contrary to or inconsistent with Republic Act No. 9645 is repealed, modified, or amended accordingly.
Publication and transitory effectivity
- The holiday rule becomes operative after publication and after the 15-day period following publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.
- Effectivity is governed by Republic Act No. 9645’s publication requirement and 15-day post-publication lapse.
