Appointment and Employment Provisions

Funding through Court Fee Surcharge

  • Additional fees imposed: Php 5 for appellate courts and Php 2 for other courts or agencies under the Department of Justice, charged per action or proceeding filed.
  • Collected surcharges are managed by clerks of court, accounted separately as the "Legal Research Fund."
  • Funds are remitted annually to the University of the Philippines for the U.P. Law Center.

Penalties for Violation

  • A wilful violation of the Act is punishable by a fine of up to Php 2,000 or imprisonment.

Effectivity

  • The Act becomes effective immediately upon approval.
