Renaming of the medical center
- Section 1 changes the name of the Davao Medical Center in Davao City to the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
- The changed name applies to the medical center whose bed capacity is increased under Section 2.
Bed capacity increase
- Section 2 increases the authorized bed capacity of the Southern Philippines Medical Center from six hundred (600) beds to one thousand two hundred (1,200) beds.

- Section 4 directs the Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Budget and Management and the Southern Philippines Medical Center, to determine the additional plantilla positions to be created pursuant to Republic Act No. 9792.

Implementation timeline for bed capacity
- Section 5 requires implementation of the bed capacity increase from six hundred (600) to one thousand two hundred (1,200) beds within a period of not more than four (4) years from the approval of the Act.
