Declaration of Armed Forces of the Filipino People Week
- The last full week of August is designated as the Armed Forces of the Filipino People Week.
- This week serves to honor and acknowledge the contributions and important roles performed by both past and present Filipino military officers and personnel.
Lead Agency and Responsibilities
- The Department of National Defense (DND) is assigned as the lead agency for this observance.
- The DND is tasked to encourage all citizens to recognize the Armed Forces of the Filipino People Week.
- It is also responsible for organizing programs and activities to commemorate the event nationwide.
Implementing Rules and Regulations
- The DND is mandated to formulate and issue the necessary rules and regulations to ensure effective implementation of the Act.
- These rules must be promulgated within sixty (60) days from the date the Act is approved.
Effectivity Clause
- The Act becomes effective fifteen (15) days after its publication.
- Publication should be made either in the Official Gazette or in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.
Legislative Approval and Promulgation
- The Act originated from the House of Representatives.
- It was passed by the House of Representatives on September 10, 2014 and by the Senate on May 4, 2015.
- The Act was approved by the President of the Philippines on July 3, 2015.
