Davao City March 1 Holiday Law

Section 1 declares March 1 of every year a special working holiday in the City of Davao, Province of Davao del Sur, known as “Araw ng Dabaw.”
Section 1 provides that upon proclamation of the President, March 1 becomes a special nonworking holiday in the City of Davao, Province of Davao del Sur.
Section 1 ties the change from “special working” to “special nonworking” to a President’s proclamation.

Section 2 requires officials of Davao City to lead appropriate and meaningful celebrations and activities on March 1.
Section 2 directs the celebrations and activities to give significance and meaning to the aspirations of the city’s founding fathers, and to Davao City’s glorious history and contributions to national development.
Section 2 provides that the celebrations and activities shall be participated in by officials and employees of the national and local government units, agencies and instrumentalities, and by civic, religious, nongovernment organizations, private companies, and other interested parties.

Section 3 repeals Republic Act No. 7551, titled “An Act Declaring March 16 of Every Year as Araw ng Davao, a Special Nonworking Public Holiday in Davao City.”
Section 3 repeals Republic Act No. 7685, titled “An Act Declaring March 16 of Every Year a Special Nonworking Public Holiday in the City of Davao, to be known as ‘Araw ng Dabaw’.”
Section 3 repeals the earlier laws for the purpose of implementing the March 1 holiday framework under Republic Act No. 11379.
