Prioritization of High Voltage Cable Installation and Operation Qualification
- The TESDA Board in its 55th meeting prioritized the qualification for High Voltage Cable Installation and Operation.
- This qualification covers both electric power transmission (under National Transmission Corporation) and electric power distribution (under Meralco and Electric Power Cooperatives).
Development of Training Regulations
- Industry experts, partners, and the National Electrification Administration/Meralco collaborated to draft the Training Regulations specifically for Line Construction (Electric Power Distribution) NCII.
- TESDA’s Qualification and Standards Office provided technical assistance in the drafting.
- The draft training regulations were formally endorsed for TESDA Board approval.
Consultation and Recommendation Process
- The draft Training Regulations were deliberated in the 43rd Standard Setting and Systems Development (SSSD) TESDA Board-TESDA Secretariat Consultation Meeting.
- These regulations received favorable recommendations and were forwarded to the Executive Committee (EXCOM) of the TESDA Board.
Approval of Training Regulations
- The EXCOM TESDA Board recommended the approval of the Training Regulations during the 74th EXCOM Meeting.
- The TESDA Board formally approved the Training Regulations during its 76th meeting on November 25, 2010.
Promulgation and Implementation
- Upon approval, the TESDA Board caused the promulgation of the Training Regulations for Line Construction (Electric Power Distribution) NCII.
- The regulations became effective 15 days after publication.
- All training programs registered under these regulations must fully comply with the specified requirements.
- Graduates of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses under these regulations are mandated to undergo assessment through the national assessment and certification program.
Publication and Dissemination
- Copies of the approved resolution and training regulations are to be published and disseminated to all relevant stakeholders to ensure awareness and compliance.
Legal Effectivity
- The Training Regulations are binding upon effectivity and serve as the standards for training, certification, and assessment for the electric power distribution line construction sector.
