Possession and Management of Vacant Friar Lands
- The Director of Lands is vested with the authority to take possession of any friar lands found to be vacant.
- Upon taking possession, the Director may either lease or sell the lands.
- Leasing is allowed for terms not exceeding three years.
- Sales and leases must follow the procedures established in Section Eleven of the original Act.
Limitations on Sale of Friar Lands
- Sales of friar lands to individuals are limited to a maximum of 100 hectares per individual.
- Sales of friar lands to corporations are limited to a maximum of 1,024 hectares.
- These limitations are designed to regulate the distribution and ownership concentration of friar lands.
Exceptions to Land Sale Limitations
- The hectare limitations do not apply when sales are made to governmental entities including provincial or municipal governments.
- Sales to any other branch, subdivision, or entity of the Government are likewise exempted from the hectare limitations.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect immediately upon approval, specifically on March 8, 1922.
