Fee Rates for International Postal Money Orders
- Money orders issued from Philippine post offices payable to several foreign locations (including the US, its territories, British Guiana, Canada, Cuba, Newfoundland, and specified West Indian islands) have specific fees.
- Fees are charged in Philippine currency and based on the amount in United States currency.
- Fee structure includes: 10 centavos (≤ $2.50), 14 centavos (>$2.50 to $5), 20 centavos (>$5 to $10), 32 centavos (>$10 to $20), 48 centavos (>$20 to $30), 62 centavos (>$30 to $40), 76 centavos (>$40 to $50), 90 centavos (>$50 to $60), 1 peso 16 centavos (>$60 to $75), and 1 peso 50 centavos (>$75 to $100).
Limits on Money Order Amounts and Transactions
- No money order shall be issued for more than 200 pesos (Philippine currency) or 100 dollars (US currency).
- Postmasters are restricted from directly or indirectly selling more than ten money orders in one day to one party payable to the same person.
Expedited Enactment Provision
- The law’s passage is expedited pursuant to an existing Act prescribing order of procedure by the Philippine Commission.
Effectivity of the Act
- The Act took effect on May 15, 1906, following its enactment on April 17, 1906.
