Prohibited prize fights and boxing exhibitions
- Section 1 penalizes any person who within the Philippine Islands engages in, institutes, aids, encourages, or performs any act to further a contention or fight between two or more persons.
- Section 1 covers fights “with or without weapons” and includes fights conducted using a light commonly called a ring or prize light.

Scope and coverage rule
- Section 1 applies to acts done “within the Philippine Islands.”
- Section 1 applies whether the boxing/sparring exhibition is public or private.
- Section 1 applies when an admission fee is charged or received, directly or indirectly.
Penalties for violations
- Section 1 imposes a fine not exceeding $2,500.
- Section 1 imposes imprisonment not exceeding one year and one day.
- Section 1 allows the court to impose either fine or imprisonment, or both, in its discretion.
Expedited legislative procedure
- Section 2 requires expedited passage because the “public good” calls for speedy enactment.
- Section 2 directs that the expedited passage follows Section 2 of “An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws,” passed September 26, 1900.
Effectivity
- Section 3 provides that the Act takes effect on its passage.
